Sacred Earth Safaris offer 2 types of touring : Scheduled and private tours. Scheduled tours have set departure dates, a set itinerary and you book a seat on the tour. Private tours are individually designed to suit your group, can depart on any date (subject to availability) and you book the whole vehicle for yourself- whatever your group size.
Sacred Earth Safaris operate
small group scheduled and private 4WD tours through the Red Centre in the winter months of May-September.
We also operate, year- round, small group scheduled and private 4WD tours throughout South Australia including Kangaroo Island, the Fleurieu Peninsula, across the Nullarbor and through the Ikara- Flinders Ranges and Outback South Australia.
Maximum group size is 15 passengers for all scheduled tours. For private tours we can cater for couples, families and medium sized groups in our 23 passenger seat Tatra 6WD coach.
Tour accommodation
Our scheduled tours stay in motel accommodation with en-suites each night.
On private tours, we can include motels, cabins, winery accommodation, Station stays, glamping safari tents, lodges, luxury outback resorts or Outback pub hotels, such as the Birdsville and Innamincka Pub hotels. We can also, depending on where you're touring to, offer unique accommodation such as the heritage lighthouse accommodation on Kangaroo Island.
The choice is yours ! We can design your itinerary to suit your budget and preferences.
Itineraries and activities
Our
itineraries cater for all ages and levels of fitness and can include
as much or as little activity as you’d like!
Most walks and activities require only an average level of fitness (being able to climb a few stairs and walk over uneven terrain) and there are often shorter or longer walks available to choose from. Everything is conducted at an easy pace and while walking, we often stop en-route to look at flora, fauna and places of interest. It’s up to you how much or how little you want to do- it’s your holiday, after all !
Letting us know if you have any special needs or requirements will
help us make sure you get the most from your trip and that we don’t
take you somewhere unsuitable.
Our scheduled tours include a variety of activities and for private touring we can include all kinds of activities to suit your family or group interests, such as wildlife cruises and experiences, helicopter flights, fishing, canoeing and cultural experiences. Special interests can also be catered for, such as photography and bird watching.
Vehicles and equipment
We use only the best equipment
available and have a fully equipped, air-conditioned 6WD coach, for comfortable travelling in the Outback. Our vehicle is serviced regularly and is well maintained
to ensure it's safety and reliability. Our tour vehicle also carries recovery gear, a comprehensive first aid kit, a defibrillator. Your tour
leader is trained in first aid and carries a satellite phone, in case of emergency.
Our Tatra 6WD coach seats a maximum of 23 guests, with storage space in the rear of the vehicle. With coach seats, air-conditioning and tinted windows, travel in comfort in the harsh Outback conditions.
Every piece of
equipment used on tour has been selected
by us to make life easier and to make your tour as comfortable as
possible.
Our scheduled tours and special interest tours carry a maximum of 15 passengers but for private tours we can carry groups up to 23 passengers.
Meals
Most meals are included on our tours (depending on where we're staying), as well as some light snacks,
including fruit. Iced water is always available in your tour vehicle. We're happy to cater for vegetarians and passengers with medically diagnosed conditions such as coeliacs disease, lactose intolerance and allergies. We are unable to cater for lifestyle choices. You need to let us know your dietary requirements when you book.
Alcohol is available at most places we stay - if it's not available at some accommodation, you'll be advised on your packing list.
What
do I need to bring?
For all tours you will need to bring your personal items, swimwear, a
towel, toiletries, camera (with charger and spare or rechargeable batteries for longer tours), medication, sunglasses, wide brimmed
hat, sunscreen, walking boots and / or sandals,
water bottle (at least 1 L per person) and a small torch. Some people like to bring hiking poles too, to aid with walking over uneven terrain. You will be advised about the facilities your accommodation has, on your tour packing list.
Other items may
be required, depending on your destination and the time of year.
For every tour we provide a packing list and copy
of your itinerary, which will be sent
to you upon receipt of your deposit.
Luggage is limited to a day pack per person
and 10kg pp for tours of 6 days and under and 15kg pp
for tours of 7 days and over, depending on your tour type and group size. You will be advised on your packing list. Soft bags and soft suitcases are preferable to hard plastic suitcases as they travel better on dirt roads and are easier to pack and load.
